This feature-length cruise ship documentary takes you inside the dramatic dry dock that secured the future of one of Britain’s most distinctive cruise ships.

Filmed during her January 2026 refit at A&P Tyne and her return to service in Tilbury, this cruise ship documentary reveals what really happens when a 70,000-tonne vessel leaves the sea and rests on steel blocks for inspection, repair and renewal.

We were granted rare behind-the-scenes access to areas passengers never see:
• The bridge during high-pressure departure manoeuvres
• The engine room as major overhauls were undertaken
• The dry dock floor beneath her exposed hull
• Lifeboats lowered for inspection
• Thrusters, stabilisers and propellers serviced and restored
This is not just a cruise vlog.
This is a serious maritime and engineering story.
During this cruise ship dry dock, Ambience underwent:
• Propeller polishing and hull treatment
• Thruster tunnel inspection and servicing
• Stabiliser checks and seal inspections
• Rudder and steering system maintenance
• Boiler and diesel generator work
• Air conditioning condenser retubing
• Tank and void space inspections
• Lifeboat davit servicing
• Navigation upgrades including new ECDIS systems
• Extensive cabin refurbishment and recarpeting

With less than 56 hours before departure, technical setbacks threatened to delay her return to service. What followed was one of the most tense bridge departures we have ever filmed.
But this cruise ship documentary is about more than engineering.

Ambience, originally launched in 1991, has sailed under multiple names and faced an uncertain future during the pandemic. In 2020, she came close to being scrapped. Instead, Ambassador Cruise Line gave her a second life.
