Cunard Is DUMPING Queen Anne After Just 2 Years

Published October 7, 2026

Description

Carnival Corporation has announced a HUGE fleet shake-up involving Cunard, P&O Cruises and Holland America Line.

Queen Anne will leave Cunard after her 2029 World Voyage before undergoing an extensive redesign, receiving a new name and joining the P&O Cruises fleet. Meanwhile, after more than two decades with P&O Cruises, Arcadia will leave the fleet and finally head to Holland America Line.

But why is Cunard giving up its newest ship after only five years? Was Queen Anne simply the wrong fit for the Cunard brand? What does Carnival mean when it talks about “guest demand”? And could Holland America actually be the biggest winner from the whole extraordinary reshuffle?

In this episode of On Watch, we look beyond the corporate announcement at what these changes really mean for passengers, why we’ve long questioned Queen Anne’s place within Cunard, what P&O could do with its newest addition, and why Arcadia’s move to Holland America brings her remarkable history full circle.

We also look at Paul Ludlow’s comments, the future of Cunard without Queen Anne, Holland America’s ambitious Evolution programme and the unanswered questions surrounding P&O Cruises’ extensive transformation of Queen Anne.

What do you think? Is Carnival correcting a mistake with Queen Anne, or will Cunard regret letting its newest ship go? And are you pleased to see Arcadia getting a new lease of life with Holland America?
